The Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular trekking experiences in Pakistan, offering stunning landscapes in the heart of the Karakoram Range. Rakaposhi, standing tall at 7,788 meters (25,551 feet), is one of the highest peaks in the world. This 12-day trek takes you through serene valleys, lush meadows, and impressive glaciers, leading to the base camp of the majestic Rakaposhi.

The journey starts from the town of Minapin in the Nagar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, and includes stops at Hapakun and Tagaphari before reaching the base camp. Travel Plans

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad

Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, visiting iconic sites such as the Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa Museum, Shakarparian Park, and the bustling Raja Bazaar in Rawalpindi.

Day 2: Islamabad to Chilas (Via Naran)

Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Islamabad to Chilas. The route covers 279 km and passes through the beautiful Naran Valley, Mansehra, and Jalkhad. After lunch, continue the journey through Babusar Pass (4,173 meters), arriving in Chilas by evening.

Day 3: Chilas to Minapin

Today, you'll drive to the village of Minapin, located in Nagar Valley. The journey takes about 5-6 hours, with stops along the way to photograph the junction where the Karakoram, Himalaya, and Hindu Kush mountain ranges meet. You’ll also have photo stops at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint and Rakaposhi viewpoint.

Day 4: Trek from Minapin to Hapakun

The trek begins from Minapin village, where you’ll cross a bridge over the Minapin River and follow a trail that offers stunning views of the Minapin Glacier and the surrounding mountains. After a 4-5 hour ascent, you’ll reach the Hapakun huts where you’ll camp for the night.

Day 5: Hapakun to Rakaposhi Base Camp

The trek continues for 3-4 hours, passing through lush green forests and meadows, with panoramic views of Diran Peak as you ascend. You’ll cross the Minapin Glacier and arrive at Rakaposhi Base Camp, located at 4,150 meters. Enjoy the stunning views of the glacier and surrounding peaks.

Day 6: Excursion to Diran Peak Base Camp

Spend the day exploring the base camp of Diran Peak, located at 3,650 meters. Afterward, you’ll return to Hapakun for the night.

Day 7: Hapakun to Minapin & Drive to Karimabad

Trek back to Minapin village, which takes about 3 hours. Afterward, drive for 1 hour to Karimabad, the capital of the Hunza Valley.

Day 8: Explore Karimabad & Altit
Spend the day exploring the historical forts and villages of Karimabad. Visit the 700-year-old Baltit Fort and the 900-year-old Altit Fort. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful walk along the water channels from Karimabad towards Hyderabad village.

Day 9: Day Trip to Attabad Lake & Passu

Drive to Passu, about 1 hour from Karimabad. Visit the scenic Attabad Lake, Borith Lake, and explore the villages of Gulmit, Passu, and Hussaini. You’ll also get to see the Passu Glacier and the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge.

Day 10: Karimabad to Naran

Drive back to Naran, covering a distance of 355 km via Babusar Pass. Enjoy stops at various viewpoints for photography and refreshments along the way.

Day 11: Naran to Islamabad

Continue the journey back to Islamabad, covering 279 km. On the way, visit the Taxila Museum and the ancient archaeological sites in Taxila.

Day 12: Departure

Back to Islamabad International Airport for your return flight.
