Laila Peak is a breathtaking mountain located in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan. Standing at 6,096
meters, it is renowned for its striking beauty and is a favored spot for mountaineers and adventure
seekers. The peak is named after a local princess, Laila Khan, and is often referred to as “Golden
Peak” due to the stunning golden hues it displays when sunlight hits its face.
Situated in the remote and rugged Hushe Valley, accessing Laila Peak requires a multi-day trek. The
ascent is classified as technical, necessitating advanced mountaineering skills. Climbers typically
spend 7-10 days on the journey, navigating glaciers, steep ice walls, and exposed ridges. From the
summit, one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding peaks and valleys, including the
iconic Trango Towers.
The peak has attracted some of the world's most accomplished climbers, such as the legendary
Reinhold Messner. First ascended by a German-Austrian team in 1979, Laila Peak continues to be a
sought-after challenge for experienced climbers seeking both difficulty and reward.
